Join the Giles family and friends to step back in old Florida where families gathered at their neighbors to help can their harvest, then move to the next neighbor until everyone had their harvest preserved. In these modern days, some old ways of living have gone away. Come learn how to can fruit from the grocery store, farmer’s market or u-pick farm. Take home 2 1/2 pint jars of Blueberry jam. Additional jars of jam can be purchased onsite for $5 half pint
Each participant will have the chance to chop fruit, add sugar, stir and ladle into hot jars. Adding labels, ribbons and recipe cards will be available.
This is community canning so you will be sharing blueberries and canning together.
Purchase one ticket per child. This class is for ages 7 and above.
Parents will participate with their child in the process since it involves knives and hot liquids.
