Experience a pioneer field day with activities drawn from Holly Giles’s book, Prairie Life in a hands-on and active event. There will be stations to visit to learn handicrafts, pioneer life chat and reenactment, group games and sampling of recipes within the pages of the Prairie Life unit study.
Each station will have a reading from Little House in the Big Woods or a short talk on how it applies to pioneer days to go along with the activity. Parental supervision is required for this event for all participating children.
Your children will be immersed in the pioneer time period with hands-on activities of crafts, food, and games. Grayson gives a demonstration of tools and survival during pioneer times for food gathering. Make and take many crafts such as a rag doll or buzz saw, tin can lantern, ribbon journal, butter and more.
The setting for this event is at the Giles home which beckons days gone by. Enjoy the day out by the lake with old fashion fun and relaxation.
Purchase one ticket for each child this is recommended for 7 and up. We will be using hammers and nails along with wood burners and drills. This class is limited to 12 children for personal experience.

Ticket sales close on March 15th. Refunds for cancellation will not be given AFTER the RSVP cut off date. We strive to prepare in advance for purchases and personalized supplies for each class and we limit class size.
A liability and photography waiver must be signed by a parent on the day of the event for children to be able to participate.
Please arrive on time. We will begin the class promptly at 10:30 am. This class is an active outdoor event.
Wear closed toe shoes, bring water, snacks if dietary issues are a concern.
The pioneer experience is based on our book, Prairie Life, it is a wonderful unit study for all families.
