Location: Katie’s Landing State Park, Sanford

February 27, 2019.

10:30 am until 12:30 pm.

Join us at Katie’s Landing state park for our first class of the season and river exploration from shore. We will collect water samples and identify organisms, catch tadpoles for observation, do activities based on water life, take a short hike, learn about letterboxing and find a geocache. Ankle wading may occur. Dress accordingly. Please note there is a $3 cash entrance fee by envelope to the state park. Take an envelope from the drive up box, place cash in the envelope, tear off receipt and place in your car window, put the envelope in the slot of Iron Ranger.

We will provide all supplies needed. We bring a tank for observation, buckets, nets, tools, books, microscopes and everything else to provide an awesome experience.

Classes are for parent and child participation together.

Target age range: 7-14+.

Purchase one ticket per participating child.

PLEASE GIVE YOUR EMAIL, CELL PHONE, NAMES AND AGES OF PARTICIPATING CHILDREN are required at checkout notes. We will communicate several times prior to the event with information and details.

A liability and photography waiver must be signed by a parent on the day of the event for children to be able to participate.

Things to know and bring:

  • Please arrive on time. We will begin the class promptly at 10:30 am.
  • Wear closed-toe shoes, mud boots or water shoes
  • Bring water, snack, towel, and bug repellent. The class will be outdoors.
  • This park has restroom facilities.
  • Seating here is limited and bringing a lawn chair will provide comfort for parents.
  • We will be going on a short hike in the woods. Bring extra shoes if you participate.
  • Younger children are welcome. Parents need to supervise at all times due to water.
  • Parents still need to help participating child if younger children are present.
