Panthers:

Did you enjoy the story of Grandpa and the panther? Why do you think panthers were feared in pioneering days? What threat did they pose to homesteaders’ livelihood?  Here is a short video on 13 facts about Black Panthers.

Use the notebooking page to do research on panthers found in Prairie Life.

Yankee Doodle:

Pa enjoyed singing Yankee Doodle, now it is your turn!

Yankee Doodle went to town A-riding on a pony, Stuck a feather in his cap And called it macaroni.
[Chorus]
Yankee Doodle keep it up, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Mind the music and the step, And with the girls be handy.
Father and I went down to camp, Along with Captain Gooding, And there we saw the men and boys
As thick as hasty pudding.
[Chorus]
I found two videos about Yankee Doodle. Songs of America does one with children singing and dressed in period costumes. Another explains why they called it macaroni.

Can you and your family sing Yankee Doodle for us? Record yourselves on video and send it to us! We will post it on our Prairie Life Community page.

Sayings:
