A Chicken Education

Chickens are an excellent animal to learn about animal science. This lesson module can take you off on a trail as far as you want to go. We will talk about some basic information that you can find online or in a few books from the library. With a little research, you just may be looking at the eggs in your supermarket in a totally different way.

  • Backyard eggs have 1/3 less cholesterol than store-bought eggs.
  • Backyard eggs have seven times more beta-carotene than store-bought eggs.
  • Hens are the best pest control. They eat weeds, snails, slugs, crickets and more.
  • Chicken poo is the best fertilizer for your garden.
  • Chickens make great pets.
