Compost and Seed Saving

Composting helps gardens thrive organically and inexpensively. Microorganisms thrive in plant-based materials. If you use pallets to build a compost pile make sure it is stamped HT, meaning heat treated and no chemicals.

Busy moms can start composting with a container on the kitchen counter. Banana peels, eggshells, greens, anything plant-based can go in. Even drier lint.

Build your compost in layers. Greens=anything you put in the pile gives off oxygen  Browns= leaves, mulch and ground litter gives off carbon monoxide.  Layer compost like a lasagna always ending with brown to help break down the green.

Compost tea uses sifted compost and either rainwater or well water as not to kill the microorganisms.
