Juicing Oranges

Grayson and Grant share a challenge of which produces more juice, electric juicer or by hand. In the end, both produced about the same amount of juice. They each juiced three oranges which gave about a cup of juice.

What else can you use an orange for?

  • Count and compare the segments in your oranges for a morning math refresher.
  • Dry the peel in your oven for home fragrance or craft project.
  • Use the peel for art. The texture adds dimension to finger paint and watercolor.
  • Zest the peel to use in cooking. Add it to cookie recipes.

Oranges from your grocery store work just as well as picked from the farm. Oranges are a great way to add living math to your day. Bringing your children into the kitchen is teaching them lifelong skills in many different areas.
