It was a busy day at our home. We had many outside activities that kept us from staying on track with our lessons.
Grant needed a break from working on his math. He welcomed twenty minutes outside to use his handmade bow. After twenty minutes was up, I went out to wrangle him back to his desk. He had a sad look on his face and explained how he had lost an arrow. A nice breeze was blowing through the Florida heat, so I told him we would go out and look together to find it.
As we walked the yard staring at the ground, Grant discovered a moth that shed its whole body and wings. I stumbled upon a dead cicada in perfect form. Grayson came over to see our finds and found a sandhill crane feather. We began to get excited about all the things we were seeing in the grass that we forgot about the arrow. Grant discovered an unusual caterpillar eating a weed, so we decided to grab a bucket and start a new hunt!
Amazing things are under our feet every day. What would happen if we dedicated time to just one spot?
We might discover a whole world right in our backyard we did not know existed.
